The 7th-ranked LCU Chaps host a key three-game series with Newman this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Friday.
They close out the series with a great event, Strike out Hunger, Saturday at 1 p.m.
Starting 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hays Field, there will be free food, games and activities.
Individuals who bring five cans of food or families who bring 10 cans of food will take part in the pregame activities, get a free meal and get into the baseball game.
LCU Head Coach Nathan Blackwood is looking forward to this great event.
"It's a big weekend for us in a lot of ways. this is obviously a good cause for this community. We always get a lot of good turnout. The school participates well as well as several high schools. The Lubbock community comes out and supports the South Plains Food Bank and helps a good cause. It's also a good crowd for us."
The 7th-ranked Chaps will also be spotlighted on I Beat Pete this Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on Sports Xtra as we bunt for beans.
LCU baseball is currently 29-10 and 12-3 in conference. Coach Blackwood says they're ready for this key weekend series at Hays Field.
"We're looking forward to having Newman in town. We've got three series left that we have to take care of business with to try and win this conference and this is a big series for us this weekend."
