Governor Rick Perry was in Lubbock Saturday looking for support for his school finance plan. Governor Perry's proposal includes a higher sales tax, a pay raise for teachers and a cut in property taxes. He says his plan will benefit teachers and students as well as homeowners.
"It gives teachers the help they need. It gives schools the funding so technology will get into the classroom. It's making a real difference in our children's future, and on top of that, this is an opportunity to make the American dream of home ownership more affordable for more Texans," Perry said.
The school finance plan currently has Texas Legislators in a special session.
