Special Olympics to be hosted at People's Bank Saturday

WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) -

More than 200 children and adults with intellectual disabilities ffrom Lubbock and the surrounding areas will participate in the Area 17 Spring Games for Special Athletes on Saturday.

The competition will be hosted at People's Bank Stadium at Frenship High School, located at Donald Preston Dr. in Wolfforth, according to a Special Olympics Texas news release. This event is the largest special Olympics competition for the South Plains area. 

Opening ceremonies begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday and track and field events will take place rom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To compete in these events, athletes must be at least eight years old and have spent a minimum of eight weeks training for their events.
