LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

It was a pitcher's duel at Rip Griffin Park Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a key Big XII series.

It took extra innings, but the Cowboys pulled it out 3-1 to take the series.

Tech starter Ryan Shetter went five innings allowing no runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

The Red Raiders broke a scoreless game with a run in the 7th and the Cowboys forced extra innings with a run in the 9th before scoring two in the 11th.

Texas Tech went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position ad they just couldn't get a timely hit to get them home.

Texas Tech now visits New Mexico Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday before hosting a mammoth Big XII series against TCU starting 7 p.m. Friday.
