(RNN) - Officer Aaron Page of the City of Rome, NY, Police Department was making the rounds when he met a homeless man called Bobby who was down on his luck. They talked a little bit, and Bobby said he sure would love a shave, a haircut and a shower.

It was clear that Bobby needed a helping hand. All he had were the clothes on his back.

Page told Bobby to meet him and his buddies at the station the next morning and they’d see what they could do.

The next day, Sgt. Frank Fragapane, Jeff Buckley and George Gebo were all waiting on Bobby when he walked in the door.

They had rounded up some clothes to donate. Page brought his hair clippers to give Bobby a shave and a haircut.

They swarmed around Bobby like a makeover SWAT team - because working together to do good for their community is what it's all about, they said.

“We’re always trying to come up with new ideas how to help and give back to our community,” they wrote in response to a Facebook message.

“Officer Page spearheaded the idea on this one, and it was a great way to help someone who needed a hand.”

By the time the guys got through with him, Bobby looked and felt like a whole, new person.

It was a simple act that meant so much to a man who really needed some kindness.
