23-Year-Old Lubbock Man Dies In Lake Whitney Boating Collision

A weekend on the lake turned tragic for a Lubbock family, and Tuesday the family will bury their 23-year-old son.

Jeffrey Mankin died Friday after a boating accident near Waco. He was riding a personal water craft and collided head-on with another water craft at Lake Whitney, 30 miles north of Waco.

Mankin was a Coronado High School graduate and attended South Plains College. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the South Plains Church of Christ. Services begin at 2 p.m. and the internment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
