LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock lake is now stocked with Channel Catfish just in time for a free family-friendly fishing event hosted by the Lubbock Lions Club.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department will waive the fishing license requirement for adults so they can fish with their kids at this event.

It runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lubbock's Maxey Park on April 29, 2017.

Kids up to the age of 17 can fish for free.

Cabella's is a sponsor of this event and will provide bait and can lend you a fishing pole if you need one.

Cabella's will also be giving away prizes throughout the event.

The first 500 kids will receive a free t-shirt and a small goodie bag.

The Lubbock Lions Club advises you bring a blanket or chair and sunscreen.

Lunch will be provided at 11 a.m.
