Two cases of note among the 80 heard by a Lubbock Grand Jury Tuesday.
On May 23rd, Sherry Thompson was at the center of a standoff in Slaton at 425 West Lynn Street. Police fired pepper balls into the home after they say she fired a shot from the door. Once Thompson surrendered, she told police she had been beaten by her common-law husband. She was indicted Tuesday on a deadly conduct charge.
Joe Bustamante Junior was also indicted by the Lubbock Grand Jury. Bustamante is charged with two counts of intoxication assault and two counts of aggravated assault. His case stems from a May 27th car crash with two pedestrians in front of Club Dallas on 34th Street. Police say that night, Bustamante's blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. One of the pedestrians still remains hospitalized in critical condition.
