Traffic changes along North Quaker and the Loop may slow down your commute. These adjustments are part of the Texas Tech Parkway Project.
Wednesday afternoon Tx-DOT crews will actually open a new intersection at Texas Tech Parkway and North Quaker Avenue, that's just 1/2 mile South of the North Loop. At second street Northbound traffic on Quaker will be diverted into the Parkway intersection and south bound traffic at the loop will also be diverted.
Tx-DOT engineers tell us if you drive through this area, it will add a few minutes to your commute.
"Traffic will probably be slowing down just because they'll be diverted to one lane and then we've got a three-way stop that will generate a slow down," says Rob Comey, Tx-DOT Area Eengineer.
The changes are permanent and part of what will eventually be a four lane highway from the future Marsha Sharp Freeway to the North Loop. The construction should be completed by this fall.
