More than 9,000 people are treated for fireworks releated injuries each year. But, most of those injuries could've been prevented by following simple safety steps.
Fireworks do not have an expiration date and can be used for years to come, if you store them properly.
"As long as you keep them dry and cool, you can use them next year if you like," said Joel Willman, Manager of TNT Fireworks.
Do not store fireworks near anything that may produce heat like a water heater or washer and dryer. And remember, it is illegal to store fireworks or shoot off fireworks in the city limits. You can legally set off fireworks outside city limits but make sure you get permission from the property owner first.
