HIV Testing Guidelines

New guidelines recommend all pregnant women be screened for HIV.

Researchers with the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force say 25% of people with HIV don't know they're infected. They reviewed studies on HIV screening and recommend all pregnant women be tested regardless of their personal risk factors.

The task force continues to recommend doctors screen adolescents and adults for HIV when they have risk factors such as IV drug use, blood transfusions before 1985, and unprotected sex.
