The Sheriff's office found a couple dead in their home in the 9700 block of West 19th Street Wednesday night. Authorities are now calling it a case of murder-suicide. Meanwhile, th e couple's missing car has been located and the driver is not considered a suspect. Sheryl and Gregory Johnson gave the car to the driver before their deaths.
It was a business neighbor that found the couple Wednesday night and Thursday, we spoke with neighbors who say they were shocked to hear the news. "I was surprised and shocked because the last time I saw him was a week ago," said Lisa Butler.
Butler lives across the way from the Johnson's and was upset to hear about their untimely deaths. "He was cheerful, never mad, he smiled and made everyone happy," she said.
Both Sheryl and Gregory were disabled. Sheryl was blind and wheelchair bound, which Lisa says made life difficult for the couple. "He just said he was tired of him and his wife living in the situation they were living in. They were tired of having pains and being in and out of the hospital," said Lisa.
The Sheriff's Department pulled out a rifle from the home Wednesday evening, and found bullet holes in the ceiling. Neighbors believe Greg Johnson shot and killed his wife before killing himself, as she was blind and in a wheelchair.
