WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

The quick thinking of a Good Samaritan helped save a Wichita Falls man from a swarm of bees.

The man was stung 100 times outside of his house in the 1200 block of N. Beverly Drive around 11:15 a.m. Monday.

Roberta Turner said she was driving by and witnessed the attack. That is when she stopped and called the police.

“It really was a horrible scene,” said Turner.

She said it was like something out of the movies.

“I was trying to come up the street, and the bees just started coming towards the cars,” said Turner.

She said as she got a little closer she saw the man needed help and knew something was wrong.

“You could tell he had been stung so many times like his whole face was just patches of red everywhere,” said Turner.

What Turner did not know is moments before her driving by that man was mowing his lawn when he was suddenly attacked by bees.

“No matter what side of the street he went on, trying to get away, they just kept coming,” said Turner. “It seemed like it was just more and more and more.”

That is when she jumped into action and pulled over to make the call to police.

“I just thought I'd do an act of kindness,” said Turner.

Turner said the bees were so bad she could see them up and down the road. A street Turner said she never takes.

“I don't have a reason to take this route,” said Turner. “I am going to say God led me this way, maybe because no one else was going to notice it, but I noticed it.”

Turner said all she could think about is what if that was one of her loved ones.

“That could have been my grandmother or my grandfather out here being attacked like that, while people are just steady passing by not thinking to ask them were they OK,” said Turner.

She said she waited for EMS to arrive to make sure the man was taken care of.

Officers said he was treated on the scene but then taken to the hospital to be checked out. A local beekeeper was also called out. Police said they found bees in a wall on the north side of the home as well as outside the home.

Turner said she is not looking for a pat on the back or even a thank you. She just hopes the man is doing okay.
