Over 200 people attended a huge baby shower today, generating about $15,000 for the Stork's Nest. That's the organization supported by Texas Tech and the March of Dimes, that provides baby items for teens and young women who are pregnant and unable to afford what a newborn will need.
The shower was a great start, but the Stork's Nest estimates it will need about $23,000 this year to support the hundreds of young mothers in this area. So, if you'd like to donate, please call 743-2730, ext 239.
Dr. Linda Brice tells me they are especially in need of new car seats, if you would like to provide a gift instead of cash. However, she says they'll take anything a box of diapers, even a pacifier as long as it's new. Checks can be made out to the Stork's Nest in care of the Texas Tech School of Nursing at 3601 4th Street Lubbock, TX 79430.
