The 77th Annual Texas Future Farmers of America Convention gets underway today here in Lubbock at the United Spirit Arena. 9,000 people are expected to visit the Hub City for the convention. It's been more than a decade since the event was held in Lubbock. It's expected to bring $2 million in economic benefits to the city.
For the next four days FFA students, delegates and teachers will be focusing on leadership training. With the name Future Farmers of America many people think students are preparing to become farmers but that's not always the case. This is a chance for them to learn the tools they can apply to any career, not just agriculture. The convention kicks off with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m.
