Deadly Intersection In Shallowater Receives Makeover

A history of accidents at a Shallowater intersection has moved TX DOT to make some dramatic changes. Thursday morning a new stop light will begin working at the intersection of US Highway 84 and Loop 388. In the past three years there have been more than a dozen car accidents at this intersection. Because of the high accident rate, TX DOT installed the traffic signal last week.

Back in October of 2004 a collision at the intersection killed a 13-year-old boy. That's just one example of why TX DOT placed a signal there. If you have driven in the area the past week you may have noticed warning signs preparing you for these changes.

Again, the traffic light will begin working Thursday morning. Drivers on Highway 84 should be prepared to stop. Those who are coming from County Road 1540 and Loop 388 should be cautious in making sure those drivers stop before they proceed.
