A Potter County Jail inmate who allegedly escaped in a sheriff's department SUV is back in custody.
A tip led sheriff's deputies to a house in Amarillo Wednesday morning. Authorities arrived just in time to find Govan Mills jumping out a back window. The 22-year-old trustee was on work detail at the county vehicle maintenance barn when he escaped. He was assigned to wash the SUV. Instead, he took the vehicle for a spin, and later abandoned it with the weapons still locked inside.
