Construction workers are making way for 9th graders at Estacado High School. As part of the grade changes approved by the LISD School Board last year, 9th graders will now attend high school instead of junior high.
Estacado will be first to accept freshmen this year. Next year all LISD high schools will have four grade levels. A $98 million bond package approved by voters last year is paying for new classrooms and facilities. Thursday the school board approved contracts to begin the second phase of construction at Estacado and Lubbock high.
