Soon, Lubbock County inmates will be held at a brand new facility, away from Downtown.
On Tuesday, the county will break ground on the new jail. It will be located near the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. Lubbock County voters approved an $82 million bond to finance the project in 2002. Construction is expected to take about three years.
