Chalkboards will be replaced by what's called "Smart Boards" at four Lubbock schools this year.
Lubbock ISD is the first in the region to get these Smart Boards. It's an interactive electronic board where students can answer questions with a ticker. The technology also randomly selects students to defend potential answers.
"What it does is take that good teacher who works real hard and makes them a great teacher cause now they have an interactive environment where they can include all the children," said Bill Landis, Director of Technology and Career for LISD.
Smart Boards will be used at Alderson, Dunbar and Irons Junior Highs and Estacado High this year.
