Texas Comptroller Predicts $47 Million In Savings For Parents This Weekend

Parents have a chance to subtract taxes from some of their back to school shopping expenses.

Tax-free weekend begins Friday and runs through Sunday. During that time, most clothing and shoes under $100 are tax exempt. Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn says she's working to get even more items added to that list.

"I am adamant about getting some of these items over here that are not sales tax exempt, like back packs and school supplies, over to the table that is sales tax exempt," said Strayhorn.

Strayhorn predicts Texans will save more than $47 million this weekend.
