"The wording is misleading," Lubbock City Manager Lou Fox admitted Thursday about a letter sent to 47 police recruits.
The letter starts by saying "Congratulations, you are joining the ranks of a prestigious work force." However, 27 recruits learned Wednesday they won't attend the next academy. They'll have to wait because the city can't afford to hire all the recruits right now.
One recruit hired an attorney, but has since decided not to pursue a lawsuit. Meanwhile, the police department says they will continue with the hiring process in case the city council overturns its decision.
