LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If you've driven in North Lubbock lately you may have noticed some new flashing stop signs.
TxDOT started making repairs to the Ash Avenue bridge in early November. To make sure they get traffic safely through the north loop I-27 interchange, they installed solar powered stop signs.
"That basically is a new traffic configuration for that interchange, even once the repairs are completed on the bridge we anticipate that that is going to be the new traffic pattern at that interchange," said Dianah Ascencio with TxDOT.
TxDOT says they used the blinking stop signs to make sure drivers were aware of the new stop pattern and that once construction is completed they plan on doing a study to see if traffic signals would be a good fit.
