National KidsDay Celebrations in Lubbock

Sunday is National KidsDay; a day to honor kids and their parents. More than 400 kids attended Lubbock's celebration at the Optimist branch of the Boys and Girls Club.

The Texas National Guard, the Lubbock Fire Department and their famous water polo game, and the Texas Tech Masked Rider were on hand for Sunday's festivities. Movie tickets and back to school prizes, like backpacks, were given away Sunday. As well as four Southwest Airlines tickets to anywhere in Texas. But the main focus of the day is kids and their parents.

"It's really important for parents to spend quality time with the children and children quality time with their parents," Ysido Gutierrez said.

National KidsDay is celebrated nationwide the first Sunday in August.
