HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A Houma man was arrested Tuesday after police said he forced an 18-year-old woman to take drugs and then assaulted her repeatedly.

Paul Anthony Sampay, 25, of Plum Street, was taken into custody Tuesday after deputies executed an arrest warrant at his home. He faces second-degree rape, three counts distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine) and false imprisonment.

On Monday evening, Houma Police received a complaint of a sexual assault that occurred in the 100 block of Plum Street. During the investigation, officers contacted the victim, who told them that she was sexually assaulted over the weekend by Sampay, whom she knows.

During the investigation, police learned that Sampay picked the victim up at a Chauvin-area convenience store on Dec. 1 and took her to his home. The victim said while there, she was held against her will and forced take illegal drugs. While under the influence, Sampay sexually assaulted the victim repeatedly. The victim told police that she tried to leave the residence, but Sampay threatened her.

As the investigation continued, police learned that Sampay beat the victim repeatedly and threatened to call others over to sexually assault her. Police said the victim was able to escape Sunday by making up a story. She ran to an adjacent home and was subsequently taken to the hospital.

During his arrest, police found Sampay in possession of marijuana, so he received an additional charge.

Sampay was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.

The victim was treated and released from a local medical facility.

Sampay has previous arrests for rape, false imprisonment and domestic abuse.
