Lubbock Girl Remains In Critical Condition After Nearly Drowning

A 5-year-old girl remains in critical condition after nearly drowning this weekend in southeast Lubbock.

Alanis Tijernia-Caraveo was found at the bottom of a pool in the 500 Block of 78th Street Sunday afternoon. Family members say she may have been under water for five to ten minutes. She was attending a birthday party and adults there were playing volleyball when Alanis disappeared.

She was left unsupervised for just minutes and now a five year old Lubbock girl is in critical condition, but tragedies like hers can be prevented.
