LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Just before 6:40 p.m. on December 8th, Lubbock Police received a call for a crash involving a pedestrian in the 5200 block of Avenue Q South Drive.

When officers arrived they located a male pedestrian lying on the roadway on Avenue Q. The pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Segundo Garcia, was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Accident Investigators responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the fatal crash.

Preliminary information indicates Garcia was walking across Avenue Q in an area that did not have a crosswalk. One vehicle swerved to avoid hitting Garcia. An SUV traveling behind the first vehicle struck Garcia as he was in the roadway. Both drivers stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.

This case remains under investigation by the LPD Accident Investigation Unit.
