CLEMSON, SC (WIS) -

Clemson is getting prepared to face against the Alabama Crimson Tide on their New Year's Day matchup in the College Football Playoff.

This holiday season, college football brings to us another action-packed thriller for the playoffs.  The Tigers and Tide trilogy take place from New Orleans in the Sugar Bowl. As Clemson and Bama clash on gridiron for the third straight year in a row.  A made for the big screen battle, that can be compared to some of the top movie series of all-time.

“Lord of the Rings.  I’d say we’re like Aragorn and Legolas’ team.  They had a fellowship," Clemson linebacker J.D. Davis said. "They took an L the first movie… stole Frotto and took everybody off.  But the second movie we came back and won. And hopefully, in the Return of the King, we will take another W.”

The previous two showdowns determined the national champion.  The outcome of the Sugar Bowl earns the winner a spot in the title game.  Win or lose, this series of games will be remembered for years to come.

“Something we talk about on our team," Clemson tight end Milan Richard said. "We want to leave a legacy. We know that this would be a big staple within that legacy if we can beat them two years in a row.  And then go ahead and get another national championship two years in a row.  Don’t think I can dream of it any better.”

The last program to win back-to-back national titles? Alabama in 2011 and 2012.

The no. 1 Tigers will face the no. 4 Tide at the College Football Playoff at the Allstate Sugar Bowl at 8:45 p.m. in New Orleans. The game will air on ESPN.
