EUFAULA, AL (WTVM) -

A child in Eufaula decided to use his birthday for an awesome cause.

Instead of asking for presents, 11-year-old Jonivan Edwards asked his friends to donate items to be given to those in need for the holidays.

Jonivan collected items such as blankets, socks, mittens, toiletries, and snacks on his birthday, which was Dec. 13. Jonivan added notes of encouragement and he and his friends handed the items out last week to the House of Mercy in Columbus.

Jonivan’s mom says the visit was one of the best experiences for Jonivan and his friends.
