NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

For the first time since 2013, the Saints will be in the playoffs after beating Atlanta, 23-13. Two weeks ago, the Falcons beat New Orleans, 20-17. So revenge was on the menu for the Black and Gold in the Superdome today.

Right before half, Drew Brees found Ted Ginn for a 54-yard touchdown, blowing the game wide-open in the Saints favor. Brees finished the game 21-of-28 passing, 239 yards and a touchdown pass.

Brees hit some huge passing numbers in the contest. He became the third -- and fastest -- quarterback in NFL history to reach 70,000 career passing yards with a 12-yard screen pass to Mark Ingram. Brees extended his NFL-record streak to 12 consecutive seasons with at least 4,000 passing yards. Only Peyton Manning (14) has more such seasons overall in NFL history.

Mark Ingram also hit the end zone with a 26-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, giving the Saints a 20-3 advantage.

The Black and Gold defense stepped in a huge way in this heated matchup. Marshon Lattimore pulled off a "butt pick" of Matt Ryan. The ball deflected in the air, landed squarely on Lattimore's backside, and the rookie swung his body around for the interception.

Manti Te'o recovered a Devonta Freeman fumble at the Saints 1-yard line in the third quarter. To begin the fourth quarter, the Saints stopped Freeman on a 4th-and-goal at the Saints one.

Wil Lutz contributed to the Saints cause with field goals from 40 and 29 yards out.

The Saints close out the regular season next Sunday in Tampa.
