BAKERSFIELD, CA (KBAK/CNN) - Police say a woman committed suicide right in front of an officer in Bakersfield, CA. The tragedy reportedly happened at a parking lot outside a hotel on Friday.

Authorities say she was sitting inside a pickup when she took a gun and pulled the trigger. The woman in her 30s was believed to be connected with a fugitive from Massachusetts who was accused of possessing child pornography.

Police had already arrested that man when they tracked the woman down at the hotel, and searched her hotel room. They eventually found probable cause to arrest her. But before they could bring her into custody, the woman killed herself. No officers were injured.

The woman would've been arrested for alleged drug possession. She was also accused of harboring the fugitive.
