Six Lubbock Schools Fail To Meet Federal Standards

Six Lubbock schools aren't making the grade on the federal level.

The following six schools failed their annual yearly progress reports. They include two high schools; Estacado and Monterey, three junior highs; O.L. Slaton, Dunbar and Smylie Wilson, and Matthews Learning Center.

These federal reports do not match the state accountability standards. Only four schools tested unsatisfactory under that system.

"Where we have to choose, we are going to choose to do things with the state accountability standards because we feel like they are in line with what is appropriate in making decisions in the best interest of children," said Lubbock ISD Public Information Officer Nancy Sharp.

LISD is appealing Estacado's unsatisfactory state rating.
