Guilty Plea Frees Lubbock Man From Murder Charge

A Lubbock man pleaded his way out of a murder charge Friday.

David Gomez pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for stabbing Amy Atchison. The judge then sentenced him to ten years in prison. In exchange for Friday's plea, a prior murder charge for Gomez was dismissed.

Gomez was earlier charged with the stabbing death of Jaleel Deshawn Edwards. Edwards was found face down on a porch in the 1900 Block of 13th Street, in April 2004.
