Lubbock County Hospital District taxes could be going up nearly 8%.
University Medical Center appeared before county commissioners Monday morning with a request to raise the tax rate 7.9%. For someone owning a $100,000 home that would be 68-cents more per month. UMC blames the increase on the rising cost of indigent care and state budget cuts. Before county commissioners approve UMC's request and their own proposal to raise county taxes half a cent, they want to hear from you.
Three public hearings are scheduled for next month on the 12th, 15th and 26th. Each takes place at the Lubbock County Courthouse at 10:30 a.m.
