Aspirin's Affect on Colon Cancer

For 20 years, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital have been studying more than 80,000 women to see if aspirin could reduce the risk of colon cancer.

The findings, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association are impressive. Women who took more than 14 tablets a week for ten years did reduce their risk of colon cancer by half. But there's a downside. Researchers also found that all those tablets caused a greater risk of bleeding in the stomach and intestines.

The bottom line in the JAMA report...regular screenings are still the best way to protect yourself against colon cancer.
