Testimony began Wednesday in the medical malpractice trial of a local physician.
Attorneys for Vikki Bramlett are suing Dr. Benny Phillips, claiming he intentionally ignored warning signs after she underwent hysterectomy surgery in November of 2002. Bramlett suffered internal bleeding and died a couple of days later.
Attorneys for the doctor, however, claim that nurses did not give him a full report of the seriousness of her symptoms. Covenant Medical Center has since settled with Bramlett's family.
