LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Police Department has identified the man killed in a deadly rollover on South East Loop 289 on Friday, March 2.

Officials say at 12:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the area of SE Loop 289 and East Slaton Highway. Officers found a damaged SUV in the westbound access road of  SE Loop 289. The male driver, and only occupant of the SUV, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as 65-year-old Albert Evans of Pearland, Texas.

Accident Investigators responded to the area to begin their investigation. Initial information gathered at the scene indicates the SUV was traveling northeast on SE Loop 289. It appears the SUV crossed the median and continued across the southwest lanes of the loop. The SUV then crashed into a guardrail and rolled onto the access road before coming to a stop.

The circumstances surrounding this crash remain under investigation by the LPD Accident Investigation Unit.
