Annual Wienerschnitzel 'Weiner Nationals' dachshund race to be held in Lubbock March 3

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Wiener Nationals, the famous dachshund racing championship, sponsored by Wienerschnitzel, is coming to Texas Tech University. Races are held all over the Southwest with this specific race taking place in Lubbock.

The competition pits dachshund against dachshund in a series of several preliminary races to see which super dogs move on to the final race to crown the 2018 Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals Lubbock Regional Champion.

Race registration is free, and available onsite March 3 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Admission to the heats at Texas Tech Rec Fields is free, and the final race at United Supermarkets Arena is included with a Texas Tech game ticket available at the Texas Tech Athletics Online Ticket office. The final race is during the TTU vs. TCU basketball halftime show. You will have to purchase a game ticket to see the championship race.

Winning wieners advancing to the championship race that same day will be named the top dog.

The Delicious One (TDO), Wienerschnitzel's official 6-foot hot dog mascot, is attending and cheering on the competing dogs in racing jackets.
