SEMINOLE, TX (KCBD) - To say Seminole's Caanon Gibbons is a miracle would be an accurate statement.
After all she's been through, on Tuesday she signed to participate in both her passions at the same University. In front of family and friends, Caanon signed for Acro & Tumbling and Tennis at East Texas Baptist University. She knows it's a blessing.
"I'm very excited because when I had my injury I kinda stopped doing gymnastics so I really leaned more towards tennis. To get to go to College and do Acro and tennis is an awesome opportunity for me."
My kids Bella and Henley interviewed Caanon on Pee Wee TV four or five years ago. In February of 2015, she broke her neck in four places while training on the trampoline and was 1mm away from being a quadriplegic. She was forced to retire from gymnastics.
In August of 2015, she turned her focus to tennis and started playing that sport with success. After more surgery on her neck, in June of 2017 she was given a full release to return to any activity and started tumbling again in October 2017.

Congrats to Caanon!
