Wayland Baptist women & men make NAIA Tourneys

PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) - Wednesday evening, the Wayland Baptist women and men's basketball teams learned they made the NAIA National Tournament.

The 4th seeded Flying Queens (24-6) face 5th seeded Lyon Arkansas (24-7) 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15th in Billings, Montana. The Pioneer Men also received an at-large bid as they are seeded 7th in their quadrant. The Wayland Baptist men face 2nd seeded Central Methodist 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14th in Kansas City Missouri.

Flying Queens Coach Alesha Robertson-Ellis says her team is ready to go.

"Our pre-season was harder than it's ever been. We got to play 5 or 6 ranked teams and we beat all but one of those. There's nothing at Nationals that they're going to throw at us that we haven't seen this year."

Pioneer Sophomore J.J. Culver says confidence is high for the Pioneers after they made it to the SAC Tourney Championship.

"All the players have been working hard. If you practice a lot, the confidence comes with it."

Good luck to the Flying Queens and Pioneers in the NAIA Tournament.
