A Levelland murder trial is over but the investigation into the death is not.

On Thursday, Angela Zamora pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the death of her one year old daughter. She was on trial for murder but attorneys accepted the plea agreement in exchange for testimony against Zamora's former boyfriend Frankie Vustan. Vustan was originally a suspect in the case and was charged but was never indicted.

The Hockley County District Attorney's office will now pursue criminal charges against Vustan. Autopsy reports showed the toddler, Melanie Rodriguez died from blunt force trauma to the neck and spine in 2003.
