Lubbock Makes Plan To Host An "American Tribute"

A Lubbock park will turn into a field of remembrance September 11th.

Thursday, American State Bank announced its plans for the annual "American Tribute." One-thousand flags will line Kastman Park in memory of those who died in the September 11th terrorist attack. The memorial also honors first responders.

Thursday, members of city council encouraged everyone to attend. "We just ask that people come out to the park and support this great event and purchase a flag, take it home and fly them proudly," said Lubbock City Councilman Floyd Price.

The American Tribute will include a patriotic concert by Cactus Theater performers at 3:00 p.m. on September 11th. That's followed by a ceremony honoring first responders. Murfee Elementary students will set out the flags on September 8th. T-shirts will also be on sale at all ASB locations starting September 6th. The flags will be sold to benefit nursing scholarships. If you would like to volunteer, call American State Bank at (806) 767-7020.
