This week's outlook: Spring-like weather to come after weak front

(KCBD) - It was windy and colder Sunday as advertised. We made it to 59 degrees this afternoon after a morning low of 45.

No precipitation was observed at the airport. The peak wind gust was 46 mph at the Lubbock International Airport this morning. KCBD peaked at 37 mph.

Reese Center, Levelland and Snyder saw wind gusts close to 50 mph when the cold front tracked across the region.

MONDAY
Models show a widespread FREEZE Monday morning under fair skies. Most locations drop into the lower and middle 20's on the Caprock.

It may briefly drop into the teens across the Northwestern South Plains with very dry air in place and fairly light winds. Highs warm into the upper 50's to near 60 degrees Monday afternoon with low wind speeds for the most part.

TUESDAY
Sunny and dry. Highs in the lower 60's.

WEDNESDAY
Sunny and windy with elevated fire dangers. Highs will be in the middle to upper 60s and dry.

THURSDAY
It will be mostly sunny and windy with elevated fire dangers. Patchy blowing dust is possible but it will be warmer. Highs will be between 75 and 80 degrees.

FRIDAY
There will be more clouds but it will also be warm and windy with elevated fire dangers. Patchy blowing dust possible.  Highs in the upper 70's to lower 80's.

NEXT WEEKEND
Still looking dry at the moment. 75 to 80 degrees Saturday with gusty winds and fire dangers and dust remains possible

Sunday will be cooler thanks to a weak cold front. Highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. All major models keeping us dry the next 7 to 10 days.
