A warning from the Lubbock District Clerk's Office: Identity thieves want to steal your personal information and they're going after jurors.
"Individuals are receiving phone calls from people claiming to be members of the courts, members of the clerk's office and saying they've missed jury duty, there's a warrant for your arrest and proceed to ask personal identifiers like social security number," said David Slayton, Lubbock County Director of Court Administration.
Slayton says Lubbock County has stepped up its efforts to contact anyone missing jury duty. But, adds that the court will contact you through the mail and will never request personal information over the phone.
If you do receive one of these bogus phone calls, call the Central Jury Office at (806) 775-1369.
