It's Spring Cleanup time in Levelland

LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) -

It is spring cleaning time in Levelland. Now through March 18, and the City of Levelland will help by providing convenient, no-cost sites for disposing of your spring cleaning waste.

Seven containers are being placed around the city for the items you want to throw away, however, there are appropriate containers for specific items.

The city is asking landlords and contractors with bulk items to not use these containers.

Certain items cannot be placed in the containers. However, there are acceptable, no-cost sites for these items. Items which cannot be placed in the seven containers include:

  • Used oil/filters - this can be taken to 302 Avenue G or the Levelland Recycling Center. There is a 10 gallon limit and no commercial businesses or vendors allowed.
  • Tires - can be taken to the Levelland Recycling Center with a minimal fee
  • Loose Paper - can be taken to the Levelland Recycling Center
  • Appliances - can be taken to the Levelland Recycling Center and Levelland Landfill. Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician prior to disposal. The unit must be tagged by a technician.
  • Metals - can be taken to Levelland Recycling Center and Levelland Landfill
  • Dirt or Concrete - dirt is not accepted at any location, but concrete is accepted at Levelland Landfill
  • Chemicals or Chemical Containers of any kind - not accepted at any location
  • Radioactive or hazardous materials of any kind - not accepted at any location
  • Any liquids - not accepted at any location
  • Car/truck batteries, cell phone/rechargeable batteries - can be taken to the Levelland Recycling Center

The Levelland Recycling Center is located west of the intersection of A&M Lane and Alamo Road. The Levelland Landfill is located at 2590 Bobwhite.

Container locations are:

  • Kauffman Park
  • Jefferson Street and Martin Luther King
  • Brookhollow and South College
  • 3rd Street and Ave. D
  • 1700 Avenue H (north of City Hall, 2 containers)
  • Lee Street and Avenue Q
  • Levelland Recycling Center
