GARZA COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - A fire north of Post has been spotted and is being addressed by the Texas A&M Forest Service and other emergency officials.

Because of the high winds the fire is spreading throughout various parts of the Caprock area close to Highway 84 in Garza County, which has caused a traffic jam for those coming north. The right lane going north has been shut-down because of heavy smoke in the area, though the area is still passable and open to traffic.

The forest service is now reporting the fire has reached about 100 acres in size. The forest service has also dispatched single-engine planes to help in containing the fire and were successful in their effort at around 8 p.m.

One home was reported to have been threatened by the fire, but there was no damage.
