NORMAN, Okla. – Texas Tech softball closed its three-game set at No. 3 Oklahoma with a 19-1 loss in five innings to the two-time defending National Champions on Sunday at Marita Hynes Field.

Oklahoma (28-2, 3-0) scored eight runs in the first and seven in the fourth on its way to the series sweep. The Sooners hit four home runs in the contest, including two from Jocelyn Alo, who finished with six RBI. Caleigh Clifton added a 4-for-4 day with five RBI.

The Red Raiders (20-13, 0-3) tallied a weekend-best seven hits in the outing led by redshirt freshman Michaela Cochran, who finished 2-for-3 for her team-leading 13th multi-hit game of the season.

Senior Kaylee Strickland went 1-for-2 Sunday to cap off a solid weekend at the plate, hitting safely in all three games. Junior Jessica Hartwell chipped in with a 2-for-3 effort that included her seventh double of the season.

While Tech found some success at the plate Sunday, it wasn't enough to overcome the Sooner pitching staff and explosive offense. After being held scoreless for the first time this season both Friday and Saturday, Tech scored its only run of the series in the top of the fifth when Hartwell doubled off the wall in left and scored a batter later on an RBI single by junior Kiana Workman.

After two effective outings in relief Friday and Saturday, senior Cheyene Powell got the start and received the loss to fall to 2-4 on the year. Sophomores Kassidy Scott and Hannah Broseman combined on the relief effort. The appearance for Broseman was her first since March 2.

Three-time Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Paige Parker got the start for OU and gave up two early hits to Cochran and Hartwell before being replaced in the second. Three Sooners would see action with Paige Lowary (3-1) earning the win.

POST-GAME QUOTE
Head coach Adrian Gregory
"Oklahoma starts nine upperclassmen with championship experience, and we start eight newcomers. We have a lot to learn and sometimes moments overtake us. But, our kids are resilient and fight in the box. We have to learn how to have that same fight in the circle and defensively behind them. We'll learn from that and grow from that. You always grow more after unfortunate events. Our group is a bunch of young kids that are fighting and trying to understand the game, and we'll get better from this."
