Local Teams Provide Hurricane Relief

Three organizations from Lubbock are mobilized to help relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina. The Salvation Army sent their disaster canteen to the Gulf area Monday. For the next few days, they will be coordinating relief efforts from Beaumont. The Texas Tech Wind Engineering Center deployed three research teams to New Orleans. The South Plains Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross is also being deployed. Their emergency response vehicle is headed for a staging area in Orange Tuesday. From there, it will be dispatched to various relief points. If you would like to make a donation, give them a call at 806-765-8534.
