Police: Monday shooting incident was self-inflicted

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Police are not looking for a suspect in the shooting from Monday night after detectives were able to determine the injury was self-inflicted.

Lubbock Police Officers were called to the 4900 block of 39th street, just before 10 p.m., on Tuesday, March 26 following reports of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found a person with serious injuries. The person was taken to University Medical Center.

No arrests have been made.

    According to the police report, 58-year-old Eliseo Benites, a homeless man from Lubbock, has been indicted by a Lubbock County Grand Jury on charges of impersonating a public servant.
