Consider This: Congrats to Texas Tech basketball and Coach Chris Beard

Congratulations to Chris Beard and his Red Raider Basketball team!

We all watched with pride as they advanced to the Elite Eight and became the most successful basketball team in Red Raider history. I'm still hoarse from cheering.

And more important than their tournament standing, Coach Beard and his ballplayers were classy and disciplined ambassadors for Texas Tech and for Lubbock.

The positive exposure this team gives us is invaluable. It will boost recruiting and ticket sales. Already this year we've seen a generous gift to the program from the Womble family for a new practice facility.

And I especially enjoyed seeing Tech play a retro game in the coliseum.

You can't say enough about the seniors, Justin Gray, Niem Stevenson, Zach Smith and Kennan Evans, who leave us now with a strong foundation to build on.

Consider this...the future for Tech basketball is bright. Our coach is an experienced winner who calls this his dream job; the fans are energized; and next year's recruiting class is already shaping up. You've not seen the last of Texas Tech in the NCAA Tourney.
